Vertical Output Premature Failure
Wells Gardner 25k5108 Monitor
Symptom
Horizontal line on screen.
Problem
Vertical output chip U601 has shorted out.
Solution
Replace U601 available from any major distributor or Wells Gardner. Also check R303, a 1.2 ohm 2w flameproof resistor and D302 high speed rectifier.
Note:
To prevent this chip from failing remove W108 near U601 at edge the of the logic board and install a 25 ohm, 5w resistor in its place. This should be done to all your monitors unless a terminal strip is installed near the chip - in which case the modification is already installed.
